Creating a Server at UpCloud

This section walks you through creating a virtual machine (VM) at UpCloud, which you'll use as your VPN server.

Step 1: Sign In

  1. Go to UpCloud Hub
  2. Sign in — we use a shared account, so everyone logs in with the same credentials if needed

Step 2: Dashboard

From the dashboard, click on Servers tab, to deploy a new server.

Step 3: Deploy Server

  1. Click +Deploy Now (Or Deploy Server)
  2. Location — Pick anything
  3. Plan — Choose the cheapest available
  4. Storage — Leave as it is
  5. Automated backups — Leave as it is
  6. Operating systemUbuntu Server 24
  7. Network — Leave as it is
  8. Optionals — Leave as it is
  9. The rest — Leave as it is
  10. Click Deploy and wait a few minutes

Step 4: Get Your Server Details

After deployment (usually a few minutes):

  1. Go to Servers in the sidebar
  2. Click your new server
  3. Note the Public IP address (e.g. 94.237.30.66)
  4. Default user is root
